Your business is bringing in revenue, clients are paying, and everything looks successful from the outside. So why does it still feel like there's more month than money? For many women entrepreneurs, the problem isn't necessarily a lack of sales. It's the money quietly slipping away through overlooked expenses, outdated pricing, and financial habits that leave little room for personal income or long-term stability.
Laura Gisborne reveals three common revenue leaks that can undermine an otherwise thriving business. From subscriptions that no longer deliver value to pricing that hasn't kept pace with your experience and results, Laura shares practical ways to identify where your money is going and make more intentional financial decisions. She also addresses the importance of preparing for taxes before they become an unexpected burden, encouraging women business owners to develop a more proactive relationship with their finances.
Building a profitable business isn't just about how much money comes in. It's about keeping more of what you earn, recognizing the value you bring, and creating the financial foundation to support both your business and the life you're building.
What You’ll Hear:
- Why a business can generate steady revenue and still leave its owner struggling to pay herself well.
- The overlooked subscriptions and recurring expenses that may be quietly draining your profits.
- Recognizing when your pricing no longer reflects the experience, results, and value you deliver.
- Using client feedback and real-world results to build confidence in charging what your services are worth.
- The financial planning habit that can prevent an unexpected tax bill from disrupting your business.

Welcome to the Limitless Women Podcast. Our mission is to
Intro:help women business owners like you grow profitable businesses
Intro:and actualize your opportunities to serve and give to yourself
Intro:and others. Here's your host, the founder of Limitless Women,
Intro:Laura Gisborne.
Laura Gisborne:Do you find that you get to the end of the month
Laura Gisborne:and you have more month than money? Chances are, if you've
Laura Gisborne:been in business for a while, you've figured out kind of those
Laura Gisborne:basic systems that need to be in place where you can create
Laura Gisborne:revenue. You've got paying clients; things are working okay
Laura Gisborne:on the outside, and it looks like the numbers are good. The
Laura Gisborne:challenge is if you're not paying yourself well, and if you
Laura Gisborne:feel like you're losing traction, you could be
Laura Gisborne:experiencing revenue leaks. Now, there's three that I've seen
Laura Gisborne:over the years that are pretty common for most women business
Laura Gisborne:owners, and the good news is they're easy to find and easy to
Laura Gisborne:fix. The first most common revenue leak I see for women
Laura Gisborne:today in business is the slippery slope of one more
Laura Gisborne:subscription. You sign up for a service that you need. You sign
Laura Gisborne:up for an app. It looks like something small, but the next
Laura Gisborne:thing you know, you need another one. And the next thing you
Laura Gisborne:know, there's two of them or five of them, and you're on a
Laura Gisborne:year-long subscription. And when you go to get your credit card
Laura Gisborne:statement, what started out as a zero has all these charges.
Laura Gisborne:You're not sure where they came from. If you're paying
Laura Gisborne:attention, you might catch this. But what I see all too often
Laura Gisborne:with women is life is busy. Life is full. There's so many things
Laura Gisborne:pulling on us that often this slippery slope starts to really
Laura Gisborne:become a snowball. So what I want you to do is to check two
Laura Gisborne:places for this month. I want you to go back and look at your
Laura Gisborne:bank statement, and I want you to look at your credit card
Laura Gisborne:statements. If you're using one credit card for business, that's
Laura Gisborne:ideal. You have one place to look. If you've got multiple
Laura Gisborne:credit cards for business, you need to look at all of them.
Laura Gisborne:Okay, go back through line by line. Give yourself permission
Laura Gisborne:to take some time and look at this and say, "Am I really using
Laura Gisborne:these? Are they really giving me the return on investment that I
Laura Gisborne:invested in when I first signed up for this package?" If you
Laura Gisborne:haven't used it, let it go. Don't make the mistake that most
Laura Gisborne:women do of like, "I'm just going to hold on to it, and I'm
Laura Gisborne:going to make time to use it six months from now. Guess what?
Laura Gisborne:That's six more months of payments that are not paying you
Laura Gisborne:back. If you need this, you can sign up again in six months. But
Laura Gisborne:right now, my invitation to you is to stop the leaking. Let's
Laura Gisborne:get you tightened up and get things on track for you. Okay.
Laura Gisborne:The second thing that happens all too often for women in
Laura Gisborne:business is that they don't raise their prices? Inflation
Laura Gisborne:happens. Life happens, and what's more important, your
Laura Gisborne:value increases. The longer you're in business, the more
Laura Gisborne:people you serve, the clearer you are about how to help
Laura Gisborne:people, the clearer you are about who your ideal people are.
Laura Gisborne:You get into action and you get results. There is a value
Laura Gisborne:proposition that's gone up. If you haven't raised your price in
Laura Gisborne:the last three to five years, I invite you to consider
Laura Gisborne:reevaluating that right now. Look at what's going on in the
Laura Gisborne:marketplace. Not there's a person out there who's doing
Laura Gisborne:something similar for less money, but look at the results
Laura Gisborne:your people are getting. Are they getting great results?
Laura Gisborne:What's the value to them in that proposition? Ask your clients.
Laura Gisborne:Ask them what are the things that are really making them feel
Laura Gisborne:so happy that they're working with you, and get more of that
Laura Gisborne:feedback, more case studies, more social proof, so you can,
Laura Gisborne:with confidence, increase the value and make your pricing on
Laura Gisborne:par with what you're actually worth. The third thing I want
Laura Gisborne:you to consider in this video is: Are you putting money away
Laura Gisborne:for taxes? You know, when Scott and I got married, he hadn't
Laura Gisborne:done taxes in a few years. We were both in real estate. It was
Laura Gisborne:easy to kind of get those big checks and forget. You've got to
Laura Gisborne:be partners with your money.
Laura Gisborne:You need to worry about not only making more money, but you need
Laura Gisborne:to keep more of what you make, and you need to pay your taxes
Laura Gisborne:when it's time to pay your taxes. So, having a system
Laura Gisborne:around when revenue comes in and pulling some aside for what you
Laura Gisborne:need to do with your bills is one thing. Having revenue come
Laura Gisborne:in and putting some money aside for the tax bill that's coming
Laura Gisborne:is another thing that I need you to pay attention to. Now, here's
Laura Gisborne:the great news: if you get aggressive and you've got really
Laura Gisborne:good tax strategy and you don't need the money for taxes, you
Laura Gisborne:can use it for something else. But that's a way better place
Laura Gisborne:for you to be in than getting to the end of the year and having a
Laura Gisborne:big surprise where you owe money that you weren't counting on.
Laura Gisborne:Okay, so money comes in, pull off your percentage for the IRS,
Laura Gisborne:put it aside. It will be there when you need it, and you won't
Laura Gisborne:have to be surprised. If you found these tips helpful, I
Laura Gisborne:encourage you to take our complimentary business
Laura Gisborne:assessment at legacyleadersurvey.com. This is
Laura Gisborne:an assessment I created for you that will tell you exactly where
Laura Gisborne:you need to focus in your business. It'll shine some light
Laura Gisborne:on some things that you may not be seeing, and it may also help
Laura Gisborne:you to see ways that you can streamline your revenue, make
Laura Gisborne:more money, have a little more fun, and find some more time.
Laura Gisborne:I'm Laura Gisborne, founder of Limitless Women. If I can be of
Laura Gisborne:support, it's my pleasure to support you.
