What Does Your Home Feel Like to Your Pet?

If your home could speak, what would it say your fur baby feels most—peace, love, joy, laughter, worry, or safety?

Coco explores the invisible emotional atmosphere our beloved companions experience every day. From comforting scents and familiar family traditions to moments of tension that Mana and her boys (cats) seemed to notice before she did, Coco reflects on how much of life with our animals happens beyond words.

Sometimes a look, a movement, or a quiet pause is enough to understand what the other needs.

This leads Coco to introduce Fur Shui™—a way of thinking about our homes not only through how they look or what fills them, but through how they feel. Instead of asking whether our homes look perfect, Fur Shui™ invites us to notice the emotional weather we create together and consider what it might feel like for our animals to live inside it with us.

Because perhaps the greatest gift we can give our fur babies isn't a perfect home. It's a home that feels like love, a place where they feel safe enough to exhale.

What This May Open Up for You:

  • How your pet may sense shifts in the emotional atmosphere of your home before you consciously recognize them.
  • How years of shared experiences can create a powerful, nonverbal attunement between you and your beloved companion.
  • How illness, grief, loneliness, healing, and other invisible experiences can shape what we bring into our homes.
  • What Furshui can teach us about paying attention to the emotional weather our animals experience every day.
  • Why gentle voices, deep breaths, kindness, laughter, and presence may matter more than creating the perfect physical environment.
  • A reminder that our animals may notice parts of us long before we learn to notice them ourselves.

Coco Moon:

Welcome to Happy You Happy Dog. This show is for you,

Coco Moon:

the human behind the leash. I'm Coco, Animal Naturopath, and

Coco Moon:

this is Mana, the Mountain Boo. We are so delighted you are

Coco Moon:

here. If your dog is attached to your hip, your cat is

Coco Moon:

supervising your every move, and you are curious about the

Coco Moon:

wisdom, connection, and joy that blossom from sacred

Coco Moon:

companionship. You are in the right place. Our pets don't just

Coco Moon:

need us; they help shape who we become. So let's chat. Hello,

Coco Moon:

darling. Before we begin, I love you to imagine something. If our

Coco Moon:

homes could speak, what would they say our furries feel the

Coco Moon:

most? Peace, love, joy, busy, laughter, worry, safety. We

Coco Moon:

spend so much time thinking about what our homes look like,

Coco Moon:

rearranging furniture, decorating, but I wonder, what

Coco Moon:

do they feel like? When I know my adult kids are coming to

Coco Moon:

visit, before they arrive, I cook or bake their favorite from

Coco Moon:

their childhood. I make sure the house says welcome home, or

Coco Moon:

sometimes I add cinnamon and clove oil to candles to bring

Coco Moon:

that scent of Christmas, even in the summertime, because I love

Coco Moon:

that sense of wonder, I personally link the feeling of

Coco Moon:

my home with smell. A pot full of chicken soup.

Coco Moon:

In our family, all of us have a recipe that is a mix of mine and

Coco Moon:

Coates. Mine is a little simpler and faster, and Co was a chef,

Coco Moon:

so a little more complex. I remember Ko would shimmer the

Coco Moon:

soup for like two days, and he would make that soup whenever I

Coco Moon:

was feeling under the weather, the house was warmer, and I felt

Coco Moon:

so comforted. Before I even tasted it, my heart already felt

Coco Moon:

cared for. I do miss his soup, and here is another one: scent

Coco Moon:

of roses. Roses have so many powerful benefits, and I just

Coco Moon:

love roses so much. But that's a whole other conversation. But

Coco Moon:

every time I smell roses, my whole body exhales, my heart relaxes.

Coco Moon:

When my Ko was still around. Sometimes we have we had heated

Coco Moon:

discussion. Okay, fights. We were just you know both so

Coco Moon:

passionate people, and we didn't realize or we didn't notice we

Coco Moon:

didn't notice it while we were arguing, but afterwards the

Coco Moon:

energy of the room shifted. The air in the house has changed. I

Coco Moon:

would find Hoku and sorta hiding under the bed, Mana in the

Coco Moon:

corner trembling. Except only Hatter would get up on the table

Coco Moon:

and watch us argue or fight as if he was judging, worse he did.

Coco Moon:

They all felt it before we did. Have you ever wondered what your

Coco Moon:

fur baby was responding to before you realized.

Coco Moon:

The other day, Mana and I were out walking, and one of the

Coco Moon:

neighbors called Mana over. She got some balls for her, and in

Coco Moon:

her hand she already had the one. It was like an orange mini

Coco Moon:

tennis ball, and I politely said, "Mana would probably like

Coco Moon:

that squishy-looking blue-green one on the ground. The neighbor

Coco Moon:

said, "Why? And she presented both balls in front of Manna,

Coco Moon:

and she went straight for that squishy one. I told you so. No,

Coco Moon:

I didn't say that. How did I know? Honestly, most of the time

Coco Moon:

I can't explain it. Intuition is certainly part of how I

Coco Moon:

experience the world, but I don't think that's. That's the

Coco Moon:

whole story. When I really get into the creative flow, for me,

Coco Moon:

it's like the world disappears. I forget time. I forget to eat.

Coco Moon:

And then suddenly, I became aware that mana is being quietly

Coco Moon:

watching. I didn't even notice she left my side, which she

Coco Moon:

never does. I don't know how long she's been staring at me,

Coco Moon:

and sometimes there's a toy by her, or she's closer to the door

Coco Moon:

or her tree cabinet, but she's not bringing it to me. She's not

Coco Moon:

even wagging her tail. She's just quietly looking at me. But

Coco Moon:

as soon as I get up and stretch, she gets up on her little legs,

Coco Moon:

but still waits for. Is it a break time, Mana? Then she'll

Coco Moon:

smile, wag her tail, jump up on me, and do the circles. But if I

Coco Moon:

take my eyes back to work to my computer and say, Then she will

Coco Moon:

just call up and take a nap.

Coco Moon:

So you see, I think after years of accumulated moments, living,

Coco Moon:

laughing, crying, traveling, resting, and just being

Coco Moon:

together, Mana and I become beautifully attuned to each

Coco Moon:

other. One of the kindest lessons life keeps gifting me is

Coco Moon:

that not everything important is visible. Some illnesses aren't

Coco Moon:

visible. Some grief isn't visible. Some loneliness isn't

Coco Moon:

visible. Some healing isn't visible. Someone at the store

Coco Moon:

register can smile and still be carrying pain. Someone can laugh

Coco Moon:

during the movie, and still feel lonely. Have you ever said I'm

Coco Moon:

fine and not be fine at all? I have too many times, and maybe

Coco Moon:

our relationship with our darling companions remind us of

Coco Moon:

that every single day, because so much of what passes between

Coco Moon:

us is never spoken, and somehow our fur babies seem perfectly

Coco Moon:

comfortable living in that invisible world. They aren't

Coco Moon:

waiting for us to find the perfect words or explanation.

Coco Moon:

I wonder how many conversations we've already had without saying

Coco Moon:

a single word. You may have heard Fang Shui or Husui. It's

Coco Moon:

the beautiful Asian practice of arranging our homes in harmony

Coco Moon:

with nature and energies. I started wondering, what if we

Coco Moon:

could also arrange the emotional feeling of a home? That's how

Coco Moon:

Far Shui was born. Furshui is not arranging furniture, but

Coco Moon:

arranging presents. It's asking what is the emotional weather

Coco Moon:

inside our home today, because perhaps the greatest gift we can

Coco Moon:

give our fur babies isn't the perfect house. It's a home that

Coco Moon:

feels like love. If your home had today's weather, what would

Coco Moon:

it be? Sunny, stormy, foggy, peaceful, warm. Whatever. it is,

Coco Moon:

our little ones are living inside it with us. What would

Coco Moon:

your precious one be experiencing under that weather?

Coco Moon:

Our four babies aren't asking for perfect homes; they are

Coco Moon:

asking for homes where they can exhale, a place where laughter

Coco Moon:

is familiar, where gentle voices return after difficult

Coco Moon:

conversations, where someone notices when the sun comes

Coco Moon:

through the wind. And sit down for just a moment. Maybe they

Coco Moon:

are not remembering the expensive bed we bought them, or

Coco Moon:

whether dinner was exactly on time. Maybe they are remembering

Coco Moon:

how it felt to live beside us. Their memory fades, but that

Coco Moon:

stays with them forever, and perhaps that's quietly shaping

Coco Moon:

us too, because every time we choose one more deep breath, one

Coco Moon:

more kind word, one more moment of presence.

Coco Moon:

We aren't only changing ourselves; we are lovingly

Coco Moon:

changing the feeling our beloved companions calls home. Perhaps

Coco Moon:

the things that shape a home the most, or the very things we

Coco Moon:

cannot see, until someone who loves us quietly reflects them

Coco Moon:

back to us, and perhaps that's one of the greatest gifts our

Coco Moon:

little ones give us-not lessons, not answers, not even wisdom,

Coco Moon:

just their presence, their attunement, their way of seeing

Coco Moon:

us, long before we learn to see ourselves again, before we meet

Coco Moon:

again. Here is this week's little love message from my love

Coco Moon:

message from your pet oracle. This week's card is I see you.

Coco Moon:

Perhaps our fur babies have been seeing us whole All along, I see

Coco Moon:

you. You are enough. They are here loving us through

Coco Moon:

everything they see. I will love to hear what the two of you

Coco Moon:

discovered together this week. Until then, take gentle care of

Coco Moon:

yourself and your precious one, because your happiness matters.
